Wallingford

Wallingford was established in 1667 by the Connecticut General Assembly and incorporated in 1670. The original plot of land, located near the Quinnipiac River, is known today as Main Street. Wallingford has a population of over 45,000 and a rich history in manufacturing and design. There are five industrial and corporate office parks which are home to some of the nearly 2,200 businesses: Amphenol Corporation, Ulbrich Stainless Steels and Special Metals, Amazon, United Concrete, Nucor Steel, UPS, and Holo-Krome and Amazon’s distribution center. Situated in the Hartford-New Haven-Springfield corridor, the town is traversed by Route 5, Interstate 91 and the Wilbur Cross Parkway (Rt 15). Commute with ease aboard Amtrak’s New Haven/Springfield line.

Schools

Wallingford offers both public and private education. The public school system consists of four elementary schools prek-2, four elementary schools 3-5, two middle schools 6-8 and two high schools 9-12. Home to the famed Choate Rosemary Hall, whose alumni include President John F. Kennedy, Michael Douglas and Jamie Lee Curtis, is a private co-ed boarding and day school for grades 9-PG.

Recreation

Attractions in Wallingford range from entertainment to cultural to architectural to historical. The Toyota Oakdale Theater is one of the region’s premier concert venues featuring a 4,600-seat auditorium and domed theater known as The Dome at Oakdale. Other local fun includes Quandary Escape Rooms, Blue Ox Axe throwing or Paradise Hills Vineyard & Winery. The public library hosts summer events and workshops as well as book groups.

Shopping

North Colony Rd. is the shopping hub of Wallingford. From Walmart to Marshalls, you’ll find what you need. With fine dining available or opt for a drive thru you can satisfy whatever you’re craving. Downtown hosts a wide array of independent shops and boutiques.
